  • After passing along the eastern coast of Baja California Peninsula, Tropical Cyclone LORENA caused damage to several homes and infrastructure across the towns of Los Planes, El Sargento, La Ventana, and Los Barriles (Baja California Sur State). Floods have been reported across Jalisco, and Sonora States as well.
  • As of 23 September, LORENA has dissipated over land west of Sonora, while the remnants of the Tropical Cyclone are forecast to bring intense rainfall over north-western Mexican coast on 23-24 September.

  • Tropical Cyclone LORENA is moving towards the Baja California Peninsula. On 20 September at 3.00 UTC its centre was 230 km south-east of Cabo San Lucas City (Baja California Sur State), with maximum sustained winds of 111 km/h.
  • According to media reports, 200 people have been evacuated in Jalisco and at least 52 houses and several roads are flooded. 
  • A hurricane warning has been issued for southern Baja California Peninsula, while a hurricane watch is in effect for the east coast of Baja California Peninsula, from La Paz to San Evaristo.
  • Heavy rain, strong winds, and high waves will continue to affect coastal Baja California Sur, Jalisco, Sinaloa, Nayarit, Michoacan, and Colima States.

  • Tropical Cyclone LORENA has strengthened to a Category 1 Hurricane along central Mexico's Pacific Coast. On 19 September at 3.00 UTC its centre was approximately 55 km south-west of Manzanillo City (Colima State, central-west Mexico), with maximum sustained winds of 120 km/h.
  • LORENA is expected to strengthen, as it moves north-west, passing very close to the coast of Colima and Jalisco States, with maximum sustained winds up to 140 km/h, before reaching the Baja California Peninsula on 22 September.
  • A hurricane warning is in effect for Punta San Telmo (Michoacan State) to Cabo Corrientes (Jalisco), while a tropical storm warning has been issued from Cabo Corrientes to Punta Mita (Nayarit State).
  • Intense rainfall, with strong winds are forecast over coastal Jaliscom Colima, Michoacan and Guerrero States.

  • Tropical Cyclone LORENA is moving north, along Mexico's western coast. On 18 September at 3.00 UTC, its centre was approximately 300 km south-west of Acapulco City (Guerrero State, central-west Mexico), with maximum sustained winds of 83 km/h (tropical storm).
  • LORENA is forecast to strengthen, as it moves north-west, passing very close to the coast of Jalisco and Colima States in the early morning of 20 September, with maximum sustained winds up to 111 km/h.
  • A tropical storm warning is in effect from Zihuatanejo (Guerrero) to Cabo Corrientes (Jalisco), while heavy rainfall rainfall with thunderstorms and strong winds are forecast across western Guerrero, Michoacan, Colima, and Jalisco States.
